Shilpgram, meaning 'crafts village', is a living ethnographic museum spread over 70 acres near Fateh Sagar Lake. It recreates traditional village environments from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa through authentic huts, tools, and craft demonstrations. Artisans often reside here temporarily, showcasing pottery, weaving, embroidery, and woodwork. The highlight is the annual Shilpgram Festival in December, where hundreds of craftsmen, folk dancers, and musicians gather, turning the space into a vibrant cultural fair with performances, food stalls, and exhibitions.
What makes it special: Unlike typical markets, Shilpgram offers a live immersive experience of rural Indian craftsmanship where you can see artisans creating products in real time. The December festival transforms it into one of the most vibrant cultural events in Rajasthan.
⚠️ Best from October to March. December hosts the famous Shilpgram Festival (usually 21–30 Dec) with cultural performances and stalls. Summers are hot and less enjoyable during the day.
